Soul Urge (1999)

Fine white crystal sand,
numbers of stars and Abraham’s children
sprinkled gently over continental edges
holding age old stories
of many mystical and magical creatures
and brave dust of valuable warriors

Cool, soft, surrounding breeze
Essence of ancient virtuous souls
Brushing skin with thickened care
Breathing life into loyal hair
Whispering compassion and comfort
Leaves and corners echoing music

Black African sky fading to purple horizons
Tinkling cosmic road dancing across it
Pregnant nebulae and raged novas
Millions of planets with different tales
prophetically exclaiming parts we play:
treasured spirits pulsing the universe

Dark     green     jungle foliage
spreading miles away over hills
Tall      palm       trees reflecting moon rays
swinging slowly in the wind…
enjoying the bliss of summer night
Fauna’s shelter since it can remember…

Clear, baby blue ocean
sucking one in and blowing one out -
claimer of many skippers and sailors
Mother of life.
Crumbling and crashing of waves
Hypnotizing sound of sea

Arms around and body tight against
the reason for my existence
I don’t know her name…
My heart finally fills
pounding in sync with hers
Beach, void of people. Complete.
