Moonguy’s Departure
This song, entitled Moonguy’s Departure, signifies the end of a painful couple of months. The story of the song goes along the lines of our hero, Moonguy, who has come to the realization that something he held quite dear was nothing more than a lie and the process he goes through of detaching from his delusions and moving on.
I haven’t produced music in ages and finally breaking the silence is rather satisfying. I am by no means a professional producer and I have only used free software to produce this track, but I am quite happy with the result. I hesitate to ask, but let me know what you think.
The song leans towards drum and bass with trancy strings, but rounds off to be quite relaxed. I would like to thank Gerry Cueto for the buzz string template and Trinesha Reddy for some of the voice samples.

Note:
I found out the other day that there is a drum and bass DJ/Producer who calls himself DJ Shodan. Similarities in our pseudonyms are purely coincidental and I am by no means affiliated with or competing with the artist- at this time I produce music as an experimental hobby and will assign another pseudonym to my audio work if I intend to use it commercially.

Thanks Alfling. If you listen carefully you’ll pick it up. I reckon I still have a long way to go before it comes to selling any music, but it is good to know someone is listening

Hello from one Shodan to another!! ;0). Quite bizarrely, it appears from one of your posts that you know a bit about PHP and I’m a freelance PHP developer! Spooky, huh!
Best wishes from the UK!

Hey DJ Shodan, thanks for visiting! I am a system developer by trade, so the similarities in interests are bizarre indeed. I see you have updated your site as well; I will pop in later to checkout what’s cooking in your audio section

This is good stuff, shodan… reminds me of how bad it was to have lost the CD I produced, during 2000-2001, when my harddrive popped. Similar progressive feel as this, but slightly slower. I’ve been wanting to get back on the wagon, but haven’t been able to muster the courage to take on that many hours again. You’ve given me inspiration, and I’m thinking I might take it on, one song at a time.

Pj, I too have lost many sequence files of songs I produced in an unfortunate hard drive crash and listening to some of the surviving mp3’s I wish I had those files to tweak them with things I learned along the way. It also takes me many hours before I am content (at least momentarily) with something I create, but it is extremely satisfying to release your own creative work for everyone to consume. I look forward to hear some of your creations. Perhaps we could co-produce a piece or remix each others work one day. That would be interesting, wouldn’t it?
